  In addition to GI expertise, Dr. Kirby brings training and experience in Nutrition to the care of his patients. Within the Hospital, he oversees the Nutrition Support Team that is responsible for the management of intravenous nutrition (TPN = Total Parenteral Nutrition), and the placement of a variety of feeding tubes used in feeding the GI tract. In the Outpatient Clinic, he sees a wide variety of GI disorders that have nutritional roots, such as Short Bowel Syndrome, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Celiac Disease, Gastroesphageal Reflux Disease, Eating Disorders, Home Nutrition Support Management, and Obesity Management. Dr. Kirby is currently a Professor of Internal Medicine, Psychiatry, and Biochemistry and is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology, and Nutrition Support. He came to the Medical Center in 1985.
